Also, "chihuahua" is one of the hardest words to spell ever

I find it funny how you stupid movie critics are wrong like 95% of the time. (With the exception of "Cat in the hat". You were right about that one.)
Example: "Night at the museum" with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Critics said it sucked. BUT... The general American public liked it, and most everybody in my area.
This movie, in all probability will appeal to:
1.) Chihuahua owners, which is a LARGE percent of the American population, and
2.) Kids who love dogs and dog movies, which is, again, a large percent of the American population.
You movie critics will be wrong. AGAIN.
You can TRY to control the minds of the American Public, but you will NEVER succeed!
I swear these people have rods in their arses! :P
I understand kids will love it, and will totally enjoy it, parents will love to take them to see it so they have something to do, and it will be good, clean, wholesome family time.
But I'd personally still rather take my kid to something awesome like Toy Story or Shrek before I take them to a sucky movie.
That's just me. And saying "movie critics" will be wrong because it is successful at the box office doesn't mean much :)
I was referring to the people who were getting insulted because of the accents the chihuahuas have. THOSE people have rods in their arses. The ones who go out and look for things to be insulted by because they aren't "Politically correct."
(a LOT of people like that on the net. oy.)
But if a movie is truly "Bad" and nobody goes to see it, than how does it still make a lot of money? Can somebody enlighten me on this?
As to your second point, if a movie is "bad" and no one sees it, then of course it doesn't make money.
But there are a lot of movies that make tons of money which really aren't that great.
Well, if you see a movie and think it's "Bad", yet it makes a lot of money, than obviously somebody's watching and enjoying it...
In other words, you thought it was bad, but a lot of other people enjoyed it. There's nothing wrong with having your own opinion. To me, "Good" or "Bad" is all a matter of perception. Some may think it's the best movie of their life, and others may think it sucks.
do you understand what I'm trying to say?
(I don't know if I'm wording it right...)
Not that Indy is a sucky movie (although I didn't like it much), a lot of people who went to see it felt like Spielberg and Lucas mailed it in.
So...that movie had like the 2nd biggest opening ever, but many people weren't too satisfied.
A movie can make money just from the hype, and totally suck. Sort of like One Million Years B.C. that just came out. A lot of people were excited, they spent money on it, but it was awful.
You know what? If the movie doesn't appeal to you
DON'T GO!
The chihuahua masses are getting upset!
Here's my chihuahuas petpop.com profile:
http://www.petpop.com/13366PP/
while she doesn't look like a purebred chihuahua, her papers say she is a purebred. (Although I think that she may have some Russian toy terrier in her because of her facial structure, which is weird, because the Russian Toy Terrier is very rare in the USA)
Anybody with a dog, cat, or pet of any kind should consider joining this site. It's quite fun...
I meant to agree with mse. If you don't like how the movie looks, just don't go. It's not like somebody's cuffing you to the theater seat and taping your eyes open so you have to watch it...
If you don't like us criticizing something maybe you are the ones who should go somewhere else. We're all free to speak our minds here.
Besides, how can your opinion be ACCURATE if you haven't even seen what your criticizing, promoting, etc.?
Sure, you can have an opinion, but If it's uninformed, who's going to listen?
I then went on to say "I don’t know what you’d call this. Maybe it’ll be better than it sounds."
I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I'm getting dumped on and I didn't even say the movie was bad. It SOUNDS kind of dumb. It's a movie about a bunch of singing chihuahuas. Just not my thing.
But I'd also like to point out that I published a follow-up article in which I said I could see why some people would want to watch it and I guaranteed it would make more money than Speed Racer.
I think I've been fair to both sides of the chihuahua debate.
It's all opinion. People are on here trashing us for making fun of a movie about chihuahuas, yet they've never seen it either.
Neither have we of course, we just looked at the poster and thought it looked cheesy :)
yes, I think my opinion may be A LITTLE BIT more accurate.
1.) I just happen to know a lot of people who have seen the preview and think it's cool.
2.)I found 32 random people who had seen the preview. Only four said that it looked dumb.
3.) Kids seem to like dog movies.
I actually talk to REAL people in the REAL world and base my opinion on the thoughts that those people provide me with.
I think the movie looks cool, and so do a lot of other people.
As counter-point...
1. I happen to know a lot of people who have seen the preview as well (one of them happens to be a chihauhua fanatic - she has 3 of them) thinks it looks dumb.
2. I'm sure if I wanted to, which I don't, I too could find random people and ask them their opinion - but what's the point - it my opinion I'm concerned with, not theirs.
3. No - kids seem to like good dog movies.
I too talk to real people in the real world and we use real words when we communicate.
In the end - it all comes down to opinion. I don't really care what everyone else thinks of it. I do know what I think of it and my opinion is not swayed by others opinions.
But just because you think it looks cool does not invalidate the counter perspective, nor does it make it any more "right" as if one could even begin to presume that an opinion has "rightness" or "wrongness" attached to it. You only get those qualities if you are dealing with facts - which you most certainly are not.
I also find it hard to believe 32 random people saw this trailer. I think if I asked the 25 people at my work, I'd be the only one who had seen it. It's not even on TV yet.
Why are a bunch of ADULTS reviewing a kids movie??
I mean, I think it looks cool, but it's pretty obvious that it's aimed at a younger audience as well. It's like something I'd take my nephew to see, because He'd seen the preview and thought it looked VERY funny. (He won't stop talking about it lol.)
It is a kids movie, and in that case, who cares. But honestly, I think it was just the dogs and everything, it just made it looks a bit hokey.
I'm just surprised this little post has gotten 40 comments. I never cease to be amazed.
"Hey! My gf is in it so shut the hell up. And no, she isn't one of the dogs wise asses."

I'm sure she did a fine job mse777.
Is that the "professional" side of you that decided to post an email address that you know wasn't meant to be posted?
If you don't mind, I would like for you to delete the post that you thought was funny (twice).
I found your email to be offensive and rude. I have no intentions of being lured into a private argument with someone (which is what you were doing) or allow someone to be rude without responding to the comment.
I think too many people think they can hide behind the anonymity of the internet and do or say whatever they want and think they won't get called out for it. I called you out.
If you have something to say to us you should say it in the public forum where everyone can see how rude and obnoxious you are and not in private. Have some guts to stand behind the statements you make.
I don't give a crap if your girlfriend is in the movie or not. Telling me to "shut the hell up" and then calling us "wise asses" was completely uncalled for. As I've already pointed out, there is another article where I mention the more positive aspects of this film - where I said it would probably do really well.
If you had taken just a moment of your time to actually look at the other article and see what else I had to say before firing off such an impudent email to someone you don't even know, you could have saved yourself the embarrassment of looking so foolish and ignorant.
When it comes to comments- the best defense is offense. Perhaps posters at this site aren't as rude as many of the others and someone who gets very defensive, such as myself, should probably not be looking at them.
I did not intend to hurt your feelings yet I think my words were less destructive than posting an email address.
The regular people who comment here at Pop Critics are neither rude nor defensive. Most know that they are free to speak their minds and say whatever they care to say...as long as they do it with respect to others.
It's fine if you or anyone else wants to debate the merits (or potential merits) of a film such as Beverly Hills Chihuahua. We look forward to and encourage open discussion and dialog no matter what the opinion. However, one should be prepared to back up their opinions with sound logic and reasoning and they shouldn't expect courtesy from others when they resort to name calling and impolite behavior.
You seem like an intelligent person who is capable of presenting your case far better than you did in the email you sent.
I hope you decide to stick around and contribute your opinions.
@Pyramid - make it 5, as it looks dumbarama...
I do believe you are taunting me.
They whine that little dogs get away with biting more and think that they should be killed for biting. that logic is HILARIOUSLY flawed, because:
1.) BIGGER DOG=BIGGER BITE. A little dog can break skin, while a big dog can break skin, tear muscle, and Break bone (If the dog jerks his head around while biting).
2.) The OWNER should get punished, not the dog. HE should be the one to pay the fines, erect a fence to confine his dog, and pay for insurance, REGARDLESS of breed. As I like to say: "Hit a man's dog and he gets mad, but hit a man's wallet and he listens."
I'm going to camp out on the sidewalk by the theater with all 5 of my chihuahuas!
...Not really. I'm just going to invite all of the chihuahua owners I associate with to my house for a chihuahua party.
...Surprisingly, most chihuahuas I know are well behaved around strangers. Sure, they bark, but none of the ones I know of bite.
