Ouch. Man, that makes me feel old. It is Colin Hay's "Waiting for my Real Life to Begin". You might recognize the song from the episode "My Philosophy" of Scrubs (S02E13) where it was sung by Jill Tracy and the cast.
You might know Colin Hay as the former lead singer of Aussie superstars Men at Work. I hope.

I liked the show! Perhaps it's because the subject matter hits so close to home. I think with a little patience, it'll pick up speed ;-) and become a hit. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
