And I have to give props to Kristy, that song almost gave me goose bumps...well done.
Also, where does Paula's cleavage rank in the Top 8?
@Mike - I give Paula's cleavage a 4 - well, two 4's.
Also, Archuletta sings the same type of song, he has yet to show his range. He always sings the slow ballads...ok we get it, you can sing those, if its a talent competition he should show another range (like the others do), but he will still win overall cause of the girlie bopper vote.
Worst of the night was Brooke, and shes the one who will leave. She had the flat out no confidence singing and looked as if she was going to have a total breakdown the eintrie time, it shows on her and her singing and she will be leaving us Thursday.
I obviously disagree about Jason Castro.
I think you have a good point about David A. Normally, I'd suggest that he take some chances and show us more of what he's got. But at this point, he'd actually be kind of stupid to take a chance and stray too far from what he's been doing. As it is, he's on the fast lane to the finals. Why mess with that?
I know there are a ton of Jason fans out there, heck I'm one of em!!!... oh wait.. Jason Castro fans I mean, yeah, he's ok, he has certain songs he does really well but falls into the Archuletta syndrome, I would like to see ihm sing an upbeat rock the house get everyone on your feet song, then I would change my opinion.
You are probably right with Archuletta not branching out at this point, and maybe that what vaults Cook into the lead becuase he does. I'm still pulling for Johns myself, but I can see him making top 3 at least...
Its coming down to the wire!
Other thoughts...
- I hated Carly's pants; they made her butt look massive.
- David Cook did fine with the higher notes in that song, but the lower stuff, especially at the beginning, was really bad.
- Brooke looks like she is having less and less fun each week. I am a sucker for any James Taylor song, but she looked scared.
- Syesha, we make fun of those cheesy AI finale songs, and that's what she picked! Wow!
I would agree that Carly could be in some trouble after last night - not good enough at all. However, I still think Kristy will make the bottom three and might be the one to go. Just because she had a phenomenal night last night does not quite make up for the previous weeks atrocious performances. I hope she made herself another sign.

Same is true of David A; same thing week in week out. Only David Cook seems to be pushing any boundries. His performance this week wasn't his best, but I liked it alot better than some of the others.
My bottom 3, Brooke, Syesha, Carly, or Kristy Lee. But if Jason or David A drop in I'll be happy too.

I actually have Kristy 2nd overall, yeah I know, and she was almost top because of David A's seemingly safe performance. Still he was solid as usual and it's hard not to reward consistency.
Looks like we will remain tied at least another week.

I don't think that Jason's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was exactly like the Iz version. I think Jason made some subtle changes that fit his style a little more and it worked really well.
David Cook's performance this week was a disaster. A glorious failure for sure...but a failure nonetheless.
nicky's last blog post..It's a ?
David A...he's like a kid singing in a musical for Disney or something, but Jason is more independent, something different.
I dunno, I just don't see Jason as boring like I do David A.
I also find that I want the ones that I don't really like their style to be the ones to shake it up a bit. But honestly, they all have a niche and are playing to it. It's kind of like watching Survivor season after season and noticing how the game gets played differently as people start to figure out the strategies!
However, as much as I would like to see David do something different (and yes, he does sound like a cold and he does sound nasally), I think David A should probably keep doing what he's doing (as I mentioned previously) while Jason C needs to shake it up if he wants to have a chance at winning.
I thought Jason's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was top notch. I loved it. It fits his style and everything. It may not be quiet as good as the original, but I want these contestants to do different things with their songs, so they don't sound like they are just copying someone else. I was sad for Chris who just couldn't get the low notes and I couldn't recognize the song at all. That was unfortunate. I expect much better from him. Michael Johns was better then Chris this time with his Aerosmith song. Carly Smithson had such a good opportunity with her song choice, I mean how can you beat Queen? I was so sad she lost it at the end. Maybe she bit off more then she could chew. The beginning was really good and I loved it, but the end was awful. The rest of the contestants I couldn't stand.
