Battlestar Galactica recap: “Six of One” (S4×02)

Started by Mike Olbinski · 10 months ago

I know I wrote last week that the episode didn’t have the amazing thrills I thought it would have. Perhaps a second viewing will change that, but this week felt better to me. I think the season premiere was forced to put forth a few season 4 plot introductions, but Six of One delved ... Continue reading »

  • I thought this was a fantastic episode. I especially liked Roslin pulling the trigger and barely missing Kara's head. Also liked how she shot the picture of her and Adama when that happened, as I think it nicely foreshadowed the ending of her close, intimate relationship with Adama. Even if the angry, drunken words from the Admiral are to be swept aside in the morning, the end to the two of them is coming.

Because I think every fan should read Bear McCreary's blog, here's a link to his post on tonight's score. Of especial interest, I think, is the palindromic section he created for Baltar's conversation with Baltar. It's the attention to all these small, subtle details that make this show what it is.

R.A. Porter's last blog post..Friday Night Sketch War: Round Ten
  • GREAT EPISODE.... but aren't they all?!!? Kara rocked...and Roslins lack of faith made you want to reach through the tv screen and shake her. She seems unwilling to listen to any reason but her own at this point, frustrating... but at least Admiral Adama got in the last good jab at her at the end about her afraid her own death will be as meaningless as all the others, man it could stop a train this show I tell ya!!!
Lee's sendoff brought me to tears man... dayam...and then they send Kara off the ship to search for Earth, its like everyone is leaving the show, what the frak!?!
They keep saying Kara has a destiny that leads humanity to their end, but I think that means end of their journey. So Im convinced she is not the fifth, and like was stated before went through the Eye of Jupiter and saw Earth that way.... not sure how a worm hole makes your ship brand new though...man, IS IT NEXT FRIDAY YET!?!?
  • Porter, I had no clue about that blog, or just missed it, but thanks for the link!

It's AMAZING what goes into the musical score for BSG. I've loved the music from day one, the different themes for different times and occasions, but had no idea the work that really goes into it all.

A lot of it didn't make sense to me, but you are right...the attention paid to the minute details of things as simple as the music in the background is what makes it awesome.
  • Oh Porter, nice pickup on the Roslin shooting the picture...I sensed that, but it didn't come to me as easily...sometimes in doing a recap, you actually need to watch the episode twice, or just take notes during it otherwise you miss out on things.
  • R.A Nice link!! I noticed she originally shot the picture of the two of them, but didnt put any two cents into it... you know what they say about a woman scorned... nice thoughts on that!
  • Nice to see I'm not the only one who appreciates the music!
  • Yeah, I didn't know about that composer's site, but I absolutely LOVE the music throughout the series...it's one of the best things about it.

I just hope my season 3 soundtrack arrives in my mailbox SOON :)
