DVD concert review: “ZZ Top - Live In Texas”

Started by Mike Olbinski · 1 年 ago

Let me begin by saying that as a musician I am always impressed by three-piece bands, especially when they are able to sound as full as, or fuller, than some four and five piece groups. ZZ Top is no exception in this regard.
In their first ever live concert video release, scheduled to hit stores June 27, 2008 on both DVD and Blu-ray formats, this ... Continue reading »

  • How cool!!!! =) I listen to the radio when i go to sleep at night (talk show) and Billy Gibbons is a good friend of the host of the show I listen to. He is on from time to time and gives some great perspectives on the band and their travels. Hes a totally down to earth guy, and the dude loves his cars.... this would be really cool to see, GREAT write-up Ape, thanks for including the details and specs (The Cap'n luv's DTS!!!!)
  • Wow! Who knew The Ape was such a great reviewer? Great write-up, Shawn (if that really is your real name). Almost makes me want to see the show.
  • LOL questions Ape's real name... how do we know Jason is your real name?!?!? It could be Jack, as Jason A Clark first letters spell out JAC, we are on to you ya know Mr. DARPA creator we see through your deceit and lies and try to blame it on other hairy individuals... we will be watching you!!
  • How do we know you're really a Cap'n?
  • Thats easy... my buddy Ape posted a picture of me with Tenniel a while back... thats how ya know =)
  • LOL - I remember that!
  • See - I told Mike that no one would believe me if I used my real name - lol
  • Well done Shawn, like all these guys said...solid review, nice detail...thank you!
  • Thanks guys for allowing me to contribute - I appreciate it.
  • Is Jason Cook on the DVD?...because then I might watch it.

    I'm kidding, Ape, nicely done!
  • Unfortunately, no Cook. He hasn't had time to get the beard going yet...
  • and if he did grow a beard it would probably grow all whacky like his hairdo... now that would be a beard!!
  • What's ironic is that Frank Beard (drummer) doesn't have a beard. I don't know why, but that always cracks me up.
  • See its true what they say, its all in the name!!
  • LOL - yeah, something like that.
  • Well done. Love the band and you're review was great, "Shawn." :)
  • Shout out to my husband, Shawn! Awesome review! I enjoyed watching this DVD with you and totally agree with your assessment. Rock on!

Btw - I'm LOL at the disbelief that your real name is Shawn. First the identity suspicions happened to me on my blog, now it's happening to you. Is the blogosphere really that paranoid and distrusting? Or is the world just full of liars? Oh well... either way, it's pretty funny. :-P
  • Yeah - I'm just part of the crowd now. :)
