The movie is going to have some great graphics. Also, the movie seems very dark and eerie. I can’t believe that “Watchmen” will be three hours long. I don’t think they are going to cut the movie in half or the admission price. I think there will be a large turn out for this movie.

Re: First look at the Minutemen from “Watchmen”

You know Dad, you bring up an interesting point. I read Watchmen, and while it was cool and epic, I've enjoyed Civil War, The Dark Knight, Y: The Last Man way more.

It seemed long to me, and the action was lacking.

Still, I can SEE how it was influential to the genre and turned it on its heels...but I sort of can see your point.

Re: First look at the Minutemen from “Watchmen”

@DadofIandI, the photo should look cheesy. It should look like a bunch of people from the '40s dressed up like vigilantes.

Have you seen the production diaries and shots of the set design? All the stuff in the '80s looks perfect. Like NYC in the late '70s and early '80s - rundown, dirty, decrepit. The archival stuff looks silly and old-fashioned, like a man in a striped one-piece swimsuit. I think they nailed those costumes.

Richards last blog post..Guest post on Pop Critics

Re: First look at the Minutemen from “Watchmen”

That photo is as cheesy as the art in the comic. The Watchmen to me is the equivalent of Stairway to Heaven, everybody thinks its great, but me. I've read this on two separate occassions and its ok. I will probably see the movie. Maybe it was important like Metropolis was but..

DadofIandIs last blog post..Lakers the lesser of two evils

Re: First look at the Minutemen from “Watchmen”

Yeah, Tarantino did that in a way with Kill Bill, although it was full price and not released at the same time.

But it would definitely be nice to see a four-hour version for fanatics...because there is a lot of good stuff in the novel.

Re: First look at the Minutemen from “Watchmen”

I almost think they should split it in half and make two, two-hour movies. Open them both at the same time and cut the price of admission. They could cut it to more than half - say 60% of a normal ticket - and I know I'd pay to see both movies.

They could show the full four hour cut that way (for the fanboys like me) and not cause deep vein thrombosis!

R.A.
