Pop Critics: Fox Renews “Prison Break” for Season 4

  • Steve McGrath · 1 year ago
    I like Prison Break but also loved Jericho(Nuts 2 anyone? ;) ).

Di you read the network TV rant on the Digitalbits.

The funny thing is that I posted:
Is it my last year that I watch a new show on TV

Now, the strike did not help anyone.

Crap, now I'll have to keep watching :)
  • jina · 1 year ago
As I said to Mike upon hearing this news, oh the insanity!
  • Jason · 1 year ago
There should be a support group for people who want to stop watching this show.

I tried it cold turkey and did okay for a while. I wasn't brave enough to stop my season pass, though, so I fell off the wagon and watched a few more episodes... I eventually stopped recording it and broke the cycle that was tearing me and my family apart.

You can do it to. I know you can.

Just say NO to Prison Break!

I'll admit I have a problem with this show, I can't stop. Even after an uneven season 3, I keep thinking that now that there out maybe it will be better next year. Besides, aside from MNF what else is there to watch on Mon? Dancing with the Stars? NOOOOOOO!

Jason, you have to WANT to get help...and for some reason, I can't bring myself to want that...
  • Jason · 1 year ago
You guys should give the CBS Monday night sitcom line-up a shot. The shows are actually pretty funny. Much, much, much better than Prison Break has become.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
I have a real problem with straight sitcoms anymore...I don't know what it is...but I do.
  • Cap'n Schwartz · 1 year ago
Probably because they arent funny anymore.....
Two and a half men is fairly entertaining...for example... they cant stand their mother, she said when she dies she wants 3 lines on her head stone...

    Her name...
    Glorious wife..
    Wonderous mother...

charlie sheen said "good, open with a joke..."
  • Mike · 1 year ago
I've heard that one is funny, but...we tried to watch Unhitched and it just felt ugh...
  • Jason · 1 year ago
Dude, you cannot possibly be comparing Unhitched to...well, anything else that's on TV. Unhitched doesn't even have the same production values as a regular sitcom. I'll admit there's a lot of crappy ones, but you picked one of the worst to try to watch them again...they never stood a chance.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
I wasn't really, just saying...that typical sitcom structure I can't get into anymore.

After The Office, 30 Rock and Arrested Development, I'm very particular.
  • Jason · 1 year ago
Yeah, good point. I never thought about the fact that all of the sitcoms you do watch are uniquely voiced. You might like "How I Met Your Mother." It's sort of atypical in the way they format it...not as different as The Office or Arrested Development, but not completely "normal" either.
  • Cap'n Schwartz · 1 year ago
yeah but just dont watch it when Britney Spears is on it...
  • Mike · 1 year ago
We just got through watching Kitchen Confidential's 13 episodes, the same type of deal as HIMYM, The Office, etc, and really enjoyed it.

It goes without saying that you can express your opinion, hate what you want hate, love what you want to hate. However, don't go around telling people to stop watching a show just because you don't like it. There are millions of PB fans that understand how many difficulties the show had during Season 3. First Sara's contract, then the strike...etc

So many unexpected events that ruined the quality the show had in its first and second seasons. And now with the "Sara isn't dead and she will be back in season 4" thing flying around, I understand why people are even more upset with the writters (Personally, I was looking forward to seeing Michael's darkside and how he gets his revenge).

Just because you don't like a certain flavor, it doesn't make it right to go around telling people not to taste that flavor just because you don't like it.

But if you like to rally people and make hateclubs, I'll be the first member to join if you start one against those lame Reality (my ass) shows.

@MadFan - If you were a regular reader of this site you would know that I was once a fan of this show and stopped watching it when it became so stupid that I could no longer justify spending my valuable time on it. My partner in crime here at Pop Critics, Mike, still watches the show.

The point I was making in telling people to stop watching it is the point I made in the above article - if we keep watching crap, they'll keep making crap. Meanwhile, quality shows are being ignored by audiences and canceled because no one is watching them.

I stand by my statement. People should stop watching this show that has lost all credibility with viewers.
  • Steve McGrath · 1 year ago
Jason, you have the right not to like Prison Break. I'm like Mike and I still like the show. One's person crap is another person's favorite show.

Now, I agree with you that many show are crap because they don't offer much like a drama/sci-fi. Think of all the reality shows available or game shows now available. I only watch 1 reality show because it last about 8-9 episodes. Deal or no deal, I can watch 5 minutes/month but for most of them, I don't watch them. I could do without Survivor.

For regular shows, I like NCIS but don't watch the 8 versions of CSI.

I also agree that many are canceled way too fast or put in the wrong time slot or night. Why can't they just use Saturday like they used to do? "The Commish" had 5 seasons(?) there. I would watch if new scripted show were there. For now, I don't watch nothing from the major networks because nothing for me to watch.

    But bring back Journeyman! ;)

Well, Steve, I think I'm just mad at Prison Break because I used to watch it then they started getting all crazy with it and it made me mad.

I certainly don't come out against every show that I think is a complete waste of time - and there are plenty that are. I respect everyone's right to watch whatever they want (I personally love Survivor). I just wish more people would watch the "good" shows before they get canceled.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
I think everyone should remember, that yes, I still watch the show, but it's some sick, twisted addiction that I cannot break, because I know the show sucks :)

    Jason:
"I just wish more people would watch the “good shows before they get canceled."
    Yes to that!

    Mike:
    lol

One season may suck but could come back stronger the next season. For example, in Enterprise, the Xindi story arch was too long for most fans. The writers learned from that and decided to make shorter story arch in Season 4.The same thing with Veronica Mars. My point is that they adapted to fans. The last few Enterprise episodes were great(darker side angle).

I'm not ready to throw the towel yet. Let's see how they do.

Dang...I thought it was 2 at the most.

I really tried to like it, but I just got bored...I think the Xindi story arch was the problem.

I also felt that show could have been so much better if they'd used it to "find new worlds" unlike what it ended up being. They had such potential to do what the original series did, but instead they tried to go with major story archs like TNG, or Voyager.
  • Jason · 1 year ago
Long story archs have hurt more than one show. Stargate SG-1 is a good example. The show was much better, in my opinion, in the first couple of seasons when the team spent more time exploring new worlds and much less time dealing with neverending story archs. I still hate the Replicators.
