Pop Critics: Jericho to be saved once more, this time by cable?

  • jina · 1 year ago
I kind of love this trend of good shows that get canceled being revived in another format or network, especially if they have good people at the helm who know how to transition, i.e. Whedon. This is definitely a movement that is beginning to surface and probably gets strength from Hollywood's inability at times to develop new ideas (hence the remakes of older movies, Wolf Man anyone?)

My wife will be thrilled about this prospect. She was really bummed when I told her about your "canceled for good" post.

Let's just hope that we don't get excited by this news only to have it never happen...

Never seen an episode of it... is it better than say any other sci-fi show such as Journeyman?

It's not an "awesome" show...I would chose Journeyman over it in a heartbeat...but it had an interesting quality to it, plus there was a lot of action, military stuff, fighting, deaths...it was just plain fun.

..so should it be saved a 3rd time? Stoooooopid NBC for cancelling Journeyman....

Yeah, there's still plenty of interest and plenty of fan support to make it a hit show on a cable network. In some ways, CBS probably helped Jericho's cause, as far as getting picked up by a cable network, when they drastically cut their budget this season. The Jericho creative team was able to show that they could still make the tough decisions they needed to make (such as cutting loose sets and cast members) yet still keep the show entertaining for the audience. It's an important thing to remember because cable shows usually don't have quite the budgets that network shows do. It could make the show a lot more attractive to someone like Sci-fi.

The fine folks at the Jericho Wiki aren't done. They're going to be brainstorming during the show and probably for weeks afterwards looking for the best network to take the "little show that could" under its wings.

No voice shall go unheard this time!

We just have to find a network able to leverage the movement behind this show and the idea of "new media."

Well, good luck to them. I hope they succeed. Last night's finale was a good episode. I was sorry to see it end.

After last nights finalle I'm left feeling a lot of emptyness, there are lots of storylines left to be explored. Come on sci fi step up and do the right thing.
