The only connection Steve Martin has is that the movie is based on an idea he came up with. He's not in it or anything. As far as I know he didn't even write the script.

That's the entire plot synopsis? I'm guessing that there must be more to this movie than that. I am definitely curious simply because Steve Martin was involved at some point in the process. I never saw nor read Shop Girl, but heard it received all kinds of accolades. I love seeing some of my favorite comedic actors break out and do other dramatic projects.
