Movie review: The Dark Knight (2008) by Mike

Started by Mike Olbinski · 11 months ago

To butcher a famous line by Jack Nicholson, the original Joker from Batman:
“I have given a name to my Oscar….and it is Batman.”
More specifically, The Dark Knight.
I know there are movies yet to come this year that will be brilliant and amazing. Maybe the Curious Case of Benjamin Button will be a movie that warrants Academy ... Continue reading »

  • Was the first 5minutes great! uh yeah thats all i've seen but still. There is a rinky dink theater by my work that noone goes to and is showing this, I am debating about going in for my lunch and just watching an hour of it.
  • You wont be able to leave after just an hour :)
  • LOL an hour of it?!?! I guess as Lucious Fox says "Let me get this straight.... good luck with that"
  • I am interested to see how it differs for you on a non-IMAX screen, when we go see it tomorrow. The comparison should be interesting.
  • I think it will be just as good, I mean, the screen we're seeing it on is
    pretty big anyways.

It's amazing, but I'm already looking forward to a second viewing...cannot
    wait!
  • I can answer that.. I've officially seen it twice now.... except for the lone jackass in the theater that of course sat directly behind me, FRIGGEN STOOPID PEOPLE, it was just as good as the IMAX version AND you get more trailers. RA, Ape, Mo, we got robbed on trailers, as they only show IMAX trailers at a IMAX film. They showed terminator Salvation, Body of Lies (the Decaprio and Crowe film whatever its called), The Spirit (yet another freaking Samuel Jackson movie), Watchmen (of course), and one other I cant recall... but it was just as good J, you'll like it, I did, both times!!
  • Well, we had The Spirit trailer here this past week, and I'd rather not see it again :)

But pumped to see Salvation on the big screen.
  • Glad it didn't disappoint, really looking forward to seeing it soon.
  • Wish you could of went with us Scotty!!!
  • We're going in a little less than an hour...and I'm about to pee in my pants waiting!!!
  • They sell products for that...
  • LOL!
  • I hope you didn't drink a lot of water before you went!
  • Mike spot on detailed review bro... I'm interested to get Jasons take as well on this now. Magic Trick was just priceless....
Only thing I'll add here was people were moaning the choice over Ledger being selected to play the Joker and said noway he can touch Nicholsons previous performance. I would love to see every single one of those peoples take on Ledgers undescribable performance and then have them eat crow that Jack was'tn even in the same league as Ledgers performance......
  • Thanks Cap'n...I know it's crazy to pull out the Oscar card, but I honestly was simply blown away by it.

The Oscars really need a movie like this to bring back the excitement. Can you imagine an Academy Awards with the chance of The Dark Knight and The Joker winning? People WILL tune in for that.
  • Agreed. But little hope the 900 billion year olds who vote and decide on such things have any appreciation for this type of thing.... perhaps I'll be surprised...but then again, I just checked the AFI top 100 greatest movies ever list, so nope, theres no chance this is happening now =)
