Pop Critics: What to rent: New DVD releases for 4/29/08

    Nothing spectacular this week on regular DVD or Blu. Looking at the Blu-ray release schedule, it looks like it will be awhile before I'm buying anything new.

    We did just watch Ghost Rider on Blu a couple of nights ago - ugh, terrible movie. We have No Country for Old Men coming now from NetFlix - I'm hoping that lives up to all the hype.

    Im surprised you didnt recommend or talk about the Golden Compass that is out this week. Although I haven't seen it, it earned a small mint, and was supposedly pretty good. Did anyone see it?? Is it worth a rent?

    It was. Now, that does not mean that I will never watch it, but I won't pay to watch it.

    I heard the Golden Compass wasn't that great actually, so I skipped it.

    Cap'n - There's always abc.com as another option. They have every episode in streaming HD.

    @Jina, true, Mrs capn and I are scheduled to try to tackle the series as long as the DVds aren't Lost... (like that tie in?) :)

    @Kory, good point, HD is always a great option... I'll probably do the DVD's since I'll have a watcher with me, but its a good back up to have, thanks for the option

    I somehow feel behind the times with no HDTV, Blue-Ray, DVR... I'm sad. :(

    Well its the process of elimination... blu-ray is useless without an HDTV, as is a DVR... I would pick out a nice juicy frosty shiny HDTV!!!

    @ Cap'n - there are some people here who don't think I live in AZ. I live close by the new Cardinals stadium...and I drive all the way to Ahwatukee for work...blah

    How would your standard definition LotR discs look any better? :)

    I like my TV, I didn't say it was the best, but I'd recommend a Sony LCD to anyone.
